If you access our service at tier 3, your social worker can apply for government funding for adopted children to pay for essential therapeutic services for adoptive children and families.
Our team can assess each child and family’s needs and advise whether an application to the fund is recommended. If successful, each adopted child is entitled to up to £5000 per financial year from the fund. This can be used to buy additional therapeutic services such as:
- Play therapy, therapeutic life story work, theraplay based interventions, music therapy and eye movement desensitization and reprocessing therapy (EMDR)
- Family support sessions and therapeutic parenting support
- Additional support directed by a clinical psychologist
Applications can be made for children and young people up to age 21, or 25 if the young adult has an Education Health Care Plan (EHCP).
