LGBTQ+ Adoption & Fostering Week returns from 3rd to 7th March 2025.
The campaign is unique in the UK in speaking solely to the LGBTQ+ community. It brings together adoption and fostering agencies that want people in our LGBTQ+ communities who are interested in becoming a parent to come forward and enquire today!
The 2025 campaign will focus on encouraging more LGBTQ+ people to Change Lives in ‘25, through adoption or fostering.
We spoke to our adopters about how their lives have changed since becoming a family:
“We’re looking forward to representing a loving family in our community. Showing that love builds a family and that every family is different.”
“Our lives have changed as now when we go to the shops, we go straight to the children's clothes and toys and are more excited about these things than buying anything for ourselves!”
Led by charity New Family Social (external link) the campaign brings together adoption and fostering agencies from across the country and LGBTQ+ potential applicants.
The campaign, rolling out on social media with videos and podcasts, calls on the community to think about how it could Change Lives in ‘25.
In England there are 83,630 looked-after children.
Last year alone 1 in 5 adoptions in the country were to same-gender couples.
However, the actual number of adoptions to these couples fell by 40 from 2023.
LGBTQ+ Adoption & Fostering Week calls for more people from the community to consider adoption, in the face of an urgent need for more adoptive parents.
More LGBTQ+ people are needed to step forward to adopt in the North West.
At Together for Adoption, we welcome enquiries from single people as well as couples from the LGBTQ+ community.
